P90X Working for All Kinds of People

Author: Da Mahoes  /  Category: Journal, Motivation, Random Thoughts

What other workout program do you know of enables you to have a:

  • 32-year-old guy
  • his 32-year-old wife (mother of 5)
  • his semi-out of shape 25-year-old brother
  • his 12-year-old daughter
  • his “not as in shape as he used to be” beer bellied 37-year-old uncle
  • his “I have 7 kids” 37-year-old aunty
  • AND his 55-year-old father of 10 dad

…all working out to the SAME program side by side at the same time, but modifying it so that it works for EACH individual.

It’s crazy, but very cool.  If you can keep up and push the reps and the weights - DO it.  If not, you can go without weights, do less reps, take longer breaks, etc.  You can have people at different levels of fitness, with different backgrounds all working out TOGETHER!  It’s very, very cool!

Doing P90X can certainly become a family event or journey just like it has for us.  Check out this picture!

Plus there’s a few people missing from the shot: me (holding the camera & one other person who just didn’t fit into the range of the camera).

Getting Fit After Baby

Author: Da Mahoes  /  Category: Random Thoughts

We’re getting lots of great feedback from our Day 60 pictures. There’s one thing most people who see them for the first time don’t know. I (the female in the pics) have 5 biological children. Yes, that’s me after 5 kids. It’s true I’ve always had pretty good metabolism and all that, but I had noticed, after my last two children, that the flab around my midsection and thighs was extra stubborn!

P90X has firmed me up in all the places that I wanted to be trimmer, slimmer, and stronger. I’ve actually seen a number of other moms use P90X to combat their baby fat. You don’t have to give up your body or your fitness after having children. Is it easy? No - it’s not. Finding the time, MAKING the time to workout is a challenge, but you CAN do it if you put your mind to it.  Hey, you brought a human being into this world after carrying it for months!  You can do anything!

I know that P90X requires a huge time commitment. There are many moms who have younger infants that can’t dedicate 60-90 minutes. For those moms, I highly recommend the 10-minute Trainer. You CAN get results in a short period of time IF you give it your all. The BEST thing about BeachBody workouts is that you don’t have to leave home. You don’t have to pack up, get baby ready, get in the car, drive to a gym, pay for child care while at the gym, etc, etc, etc. Once you have a down time in your day and baby is sleeping or otherwise occupied (or daddy watches baby for a little while), you can pop in the DVD and get going!

It really does work if you commit to it. Get fit and healthy for your family and for YOURSELF! It’s very easy to lose self-confidence after your body changes after having kids. Getting fit again can change that and help you feel even better about being a mom. :) Not only that, P90X (working out in general) has also made a positive difference in my energy level each day.  I’m not saying I never get tired, or never feel like sneaking a nap in from time to time, but I do notice that I have more energy than I used to - we both know moms need as much energy as we can get!

If you’re ready to take control of your body again:

1.  Click HERE

2.  Choose a workout program that you’re interested in most (I recommend Power 90, P90X, or 10-minute Trainer - your choice just depends on how motivated you are, how much time you know you can commit, and what kind of shape your in now.  10-minute = beginner, P90X = more intense and requires the most time)

P90X Update: Day 60 Pictures

Yup! We’re hitting the home stretch. Yesterday was Day 60 of P90X! We took a few pictures that we figured you’d want to see. They pretty much speak for themselves. My husband has lost almost 20lbs. I haven’t really lost any weight, but have redistributed it nicely. I’m noticing a LOT more tone everywhere that these pictures don’t really show that well. As you’ll notice, the Day 0 pictures are much clearer. My camera wasn’t working when we wanted to take our Day 60 so we just made due with our laptop camera. Not the best, but you can still see the difference. Hopefully for Day 90 pictures, we’ll have the good camera!

Well, without further ado…here’s what people have been asking for - pictures!

Does P90X work? When we say “Yes” we’re not just saying that. It really does get you RESULTS! So far, I’ve missed only one workout and Allen has not missed ANY. We are also trying to stick with the nutritional suggestions as much as possible, but probably could have done a much better job with that part (still getting results though). We’ve also found the Recovery Drink, the protein bars, and the Shakeology to be very helpful along the way as well. We didn’t start off with all that, but slowly added them in as we progressed through the program. Hey - you gotta start somewhere, and it’s true what BeachBody says, it all starts with the DECISION! Decide. Commit. Succeed. It really can be that simple. If you’re ready, we can help. Get started Right HERE!

P90X Recovery Drink is Good Stuff

recoveryI have to be honest, when I first saw the information about the P90X Recovery Drink I figured it was just something they’re trying to sell me.  I don’t really need it, but they’re trying to get me to buy it by saying it’s a big help blah, blah, blah.

In spite of my skepticism and doubt, we decided to give it a try anyway.  It’s true, it doesn’t taste that bad.  I was expecting worse, but while it was certainly palatable, the first few times I had it, I didn’t really think it was anything to rave about.  Actually, the first few days we drank it, I had trouble finishing up my cup.

By the following week, I could drink the whole think after a workout no problem.

Did you know that one of the most common mistakes people make when exercising is NOT consuming nutrients right after they workout?

I talked with a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach once and he said if he could recommend only ONE change to an athlete, it would be to eat something, put some nutrients into the body directly after their workout.  In all my life of playing sports and being involved in sports I had never heard that.

Anyway - that’s another reason why it’s nice to have the Recovery Drink on hand - it’s the perfect way to get those nutrients in right after our workout.

After about 10 days of using the drink, I began looking forward to having it after our workout sessions.  We mix it up and throw it in the freezer before we start and by the time we finish, it’s a delicious, icy treat that truely hits the spot! I’ve gotten to the point where we get through with a workout and I just chug that Recovery Drink down like nothing - it tastes soooo good!  Not only that, we ran out of it and didn’t have it for about a week and both of us noticed a definite difference in muscle aches and the time it took our body to recover from workouts.  No joke - not just saying it.  I got my first cramp in all my P90X weeks during that week we were out of Recovery Drink.  We really do have a lot less muscle aches and pains and that go away faster when we do utilize the Recovery Drink so I’m definitely glad to have it on hand again!

If you’re doing P90X, get the Recovery Drink…just like Tony, “I highly recommend it.”
