P90X Working for All Kinds of People

Author: Da Mahoes  /  Category: Journal, Motivation, Random Thoughts

What other workout program do you know of enables you to have a:

  • 32-year-old guy
  • his 32-year-old wife (mother of 5)
  • his semi-out of shape 25-year-old brother
  • his 12-year-old daughter
  • his “not as in shape as he used to be” beer bellied 37-year-old uncle
  • his “I have 7 kids” 37-year-old aunty
  • AND his 55-year-old father of 10 dad

…all working out to the SAME program side by side at the same time, but modifying it so that it works for EACH individual.

It’s crazy, but very cool.  If you can keep up and push the reps and the weights - DO it.  If not, you can go without weights, do less reps, take longer breaks, etc.  You can have people at different levels of fitness, with different backgrounds all working out TOGETHER!  It’s very, very cool!

Doing P90X can certainly become a family event or journey just like it has for us.  Check out this picture!

Plus there’s a few people missing from the shot: me (holding the camera & one other person who just didn’t fit into the range of the camera).

Getting Fit After Baby

Author: Da Mahoes  /  Category: Random Thoughts

We’re getting lots of great feedback from our Day 60 pictures. There’s one thing most people who see them for the first time don’t know. I (the female in the pics) have 5 biological children. Yes, that’s me after 5 kids. It’s true I’ve always had pretty good metabolism and all that, but I had noticed, after my last two children, that the flab around my midsection and thighs was extra stubborn!

P90X has firmed me up in all the places that I wanted to be trimmer, slimmer, and stronger. I’ve actually seen a number of other moms use P90X to combat their baby fat. You don’t have to give up your body or your fitness after having children. Is it easy? No - it’s not. Finding the time, MAKING the time to workout is a challenge, but you CAN do it if you put your mind to it.  Hey, you brought a human being into this world after carrying it for months!  You can do anything!

I know that P90X requires a huge time commitment. There are many moms who have younger infants that can’t dedicate 60-90 minutes. For those moms, I highly recommend the 10-minute Trainer. You CAN get results in a short period of time IF you give it your all. The BEST thing about BeachBody workouts is that you don’t have to leave home. You don’t have to pack up, get baby ready, get in the car, drive to a gym, pay for child care while at the gym, etc, etc, etc. Once you have a down time in your day and baby is sleeping or otherwise occupied (or daddy watches baby for a little while), you can pop in the DVD and get going!

It really does work if you commit to it. Get fit and healthy for your family and for YOURSELF! It’s very easy to lose self-confidence after your body changes after having kids. Getting fit again can change that and help you feel even better about being a mom. :) Not only that, P90X (working out in general) has also made a positive difference in my energy level each day.  I’m not saying I never get tired, or never feel like sneaking a nap in from time to time, but I do notice that I have more energy than I used to - we both know moms need as much energy as we can get!

If you’re ready to take control of your body again:

1.  Click HERE

2.  Choose a workout program that you’re interested in most (I recommend Power 90, P90X, or 10-minute Trainer - your choice just depends on how motivated you are, how much time you know you can commit, and what kind of shape your in now.  10-minute = beginner, P90X = more intense and requires the most time)

3.  Get it today so you can start your journey to a happier,  healthier YOU

Do You Know What You’re Eating?

Author: Mrs. Mahoe  /  Category: Nutrition, Random Thoughts, Tips and Tricks

Wow! I never would have really thought about it today except that my husband was making comments. I seriously had a lot of junk food and honestly wouldn’t have given it a second thought. The only reason I realize just how much sweets I put into my body was because my husband said something each time he saw me eat “dessert” or a “snack.”

I had…

  • a Drumstick (ice cream)
  • an Ice Cake/soft serve type treat
  • a Creamsicle
  • and it was our daughter’s birthday, so I had a piece of birthday cake too

When he saw me eating the drumstick he was like, “I can’t believe you’re eating that AND the ice cake.” I informed him that I had bought the drumstick for him, but since he said he didn’t want it, I was more than happy to take care of it for him. :D

Then he saw me start on the ice cake too and said, “You’re going to eat that too? Oh, that’s enough for today, no more for you. You can’t eat cake tonight.”

I told him that I had to eat cake - it was our daughter’s birthday!

But before the party came around we had some time to relax at home. The kids all asked to have a popsicle, so I grabbed one too. Didn’t even cross my mind that I had already eaten 2 other forms of ice cream for that day and was planning on eating cake later that really did NOT need to eat a Creamsicle at that moment. But I asked the kids to pass me one without even giving it a second thought.

Yet again, the only reason I ended up thinking about what I was doing was because my husband woke up from his nap and said, “I don’t believe you’re eating that! Didn’t you have enough today already?”

Now each time he said these things, it was very light-hearted and in a fun, laughing way so it wasn’t insulting or degrading at all and it REALLY opened my eyes to just how much junk I was consuming without even realizing it or thinking twice.

So, my question to you is…

Do YOU know what you’re eating?

I guess that’s why people do food journals. It’s an eye opening experience I bet (I don’t know because I’ve never tried it-I can only imagine). But if you’re looking to try journaling in your fitness journey, there’s a free online source to keep a food journal at Fit Day (see banner below). This can help you make better food choices each day and accelerate your progress along your fitness journey. Click on the banner below to check it out.

College Athletes Using P90X

Author: Da Mahoes  /  Category: Fat Blasting Workouts, Favorites, Random Thoughts

p90xlogo_low_resWow!  I had heard that coaches were starting to use P90X for “elite” level players and I had heard that college players were using it and I even knew of some high school softball players who were using it.  However, I just saw more evidence of it via Facebook.  I saw an update posted by a DI College Softball player that she was going to be “P90Xing” for the next 90 days.  Then I saw a teammate of hers comment on her status update that she was also going to be starting the program “after her birthday.”

So right there in one status update and comments on that update there was evidence of 2 DI softball players who were going to be using that program during the off season.

I’ve never personally tried the program.  Is it for everybody?  Most certainly not, however, BeachBody (where you can get P90X online) also other programs tailored to people who are not at the “elite athlete” level.

Whether you’re up for an extreme workout, or whether you’re just getting back into being physically active, Team BeachBody has an awesome fat blasting workout program for you.

Back When Fitness Was Easy

Author: Da Mahoes  /  Category: Random Thoughts

Remember back in the day when you used to run and play and never think about calories or fat loss or BMI?  Things were so simple then weren’t they.  Now that you’re older, time for fitness seems to be tough to come by.  The motivation to work out is not always there and those stubborn unwanted pounds seem more persistent than ever to make house in the most unflattering places of your body.

Look there’s no way any of us are going to achieve fitness and buldge-less-ness unless we make a commitment to do so.  That’s part of why we started this blog, to keep track of progress along the way, to meet others who are going through the same ups and downs as we are, to celebrate the small accomplishments along the way, and to ultimately helps others (right alongside ourselves) reach their ultimate fitness goals.

We’re so glad you stopped by to check us out.  We hope you stick around and follow along as we move forward in our journey to healthier, more ripped bodies.  Please join us and feel free to share any stories or thoughts you may have as you go through your workouts and follow us on ours.

See ya around!
